One of the integral parts of purchasing a home is deciding on a home inspection. A home inspection gives insight to many aspects of the home before the purchase goes into effect.

And in doing so, finding the most competent inspector is extremely important. His job is to come in and write up a report with findings about the home, major problems, etc.

Brown and Tyson say “Just becuse an inspector is an ASHI member doesn’t guarantee that you’ll get a good inspection, but it certainly increases the likelihood that you’ll be working with a qualified professional.”

Good questions to ask an inspector?
1. How long have you bee in the profession?

2. Are you experienced in residential inspections?

3. How long does the inspection take?

4. The cost? Any written report? And does the inspector encourage the client to be present.

As a real estate broker, I have sat in on many home inspections and it’s detrimental to the client in getting a “competent” inspector.
